Car Price Checker privacy policy

Car Price Checker reads the car from the listing you open and sends its details, with search results for the same model, to our server to work out the price range. It never reads or sends anything about you.
Data kept in your browser
- Price results for 24 hours, so reopening a listing doesn't search again.
- Car details you corrected by hand.
It stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the extension.
Data sent to our server
- The car details read from the listing (title, model, year, price and similar listing text) and the text of the price search results, when you open the panel or click the button.
Our server logs each request (your IP address, the page's domain and a shortened copy of the car details) to fix errors and stop abuse. The logs are deleted after 30 days.
Services that process data for us
- Google Cloud Run hosts our server and its logs.
- OpenRouter passes the request to an AI model provider and returns the answer.
- To find prices, the extension runs a Google search for the car in a background tab of your browser and closes it after reading. Google's privacy policy applies to that search.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your data, or share it for advertising.
- Use it for anything other than the extension's single purpose described above.
- Use it to decide creditworthiness or for lending.
- Track your browsing history or activity on other sites.
The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Feedback and uninstall surveys
If you choose to fill in our feedback form or the survey that opens after you uninstall, your answers are collected with Google Forms. They contain only what you type, and we use them only to improve the extension. Google's privacy policy applies to Google Forms.
Permissions
- sidePanel
- The interface (the car, the price range, the verdict, the sources) lives in the side panel.
- activeTab
- Gives access to the listing you are viewing when you open the side panel.
- tabs
- Finds the listing tab, opens the price search in a background tab and closes it after reading.
- scripting
- Reads the car details from the listing and the search results from the tab the extension opened.
- storage
- Caches results for 24 hours and remembers fields you corrected.
- Access to all websites
- Used cars are sold on thousands of marketplaces and dealer sites in every country; the reader and the floating button must work on any of them.
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
